Organic Musician

Peter began formal music training in 4th grade, starting on the cornet. In high school, he moved to trumpet, playing in various concert and jazz bands, as well as symphonies, with solo and ensemble performances. One of Peter’s most influential experiences was watching and listening as Aaron Copland rehearsed his own compositions under the tall pine trees just in front of Little Blue Lake. While attending college, his brother introduced him to the music of Paul Winter, whose work left a lasting impression and marked a paradigm shift in his approach to music. In 2005, he began working with Paul Winter on a music project in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and over the next few years co-produced and played with him on the album “Crestone,” which won a Grammy® award in 2008. This experience helped Peter refine his art of playing and recording music with plants and animals in nature. Currently Peter plays the didjeridoo, conch, and other instruments of his own making with human and plant bandmates in his nature fusion band The Sonic Apothecary.

Sustainable Activist

It could be said that Peter’s journey began when he was working as a firefighter. While reducing fire danger by removing limbs and small trees to reduce relative fire danger, he got to know the local pinyon-juniper-ponderosa forest. Over several years, he noticed that as he took care of the forest, the forest started to take care of him. This relationship with the forest provided the basis for distilling pinyon pine, Rocky Mountain juniper, ponderosa pine, as well as other Colorado native species. The results are unique essential oils and hydrosols, as well as powerful products for the healing and evolution of body, energy, and mind.
